Your battery needs replacing

Have you noticed something strange about your laptop battery power? If you find that your laptop doesn’t charge fully or you find yourself having to plug it in more often, it may be that your battery needs replacing. Here are a few signs that your laptop may need new parts.

Have you noticed small wires poking out of your laptop battery power adapter cord? If so, try replacing the power adapter before you look at the battery. Sometimes improper storage, incessant tugging, and damage made by kittens or puppies with a taste for gnawing wires can result in the adapter cord not working correctly. This is why you should tie your cords away to prevent them from tangling and never, ever wind them up tightly. You may discover that your battery doesn’t charge at all.

If you find that your laptop battery power problems continue after you’ve replaced your adapter cord, it may be the battery itself. Sometimes it’s simply because the battery is too old to be able to process as it once did. Before replacing your battery, check its warranty to ensure that it isn’t past its date. Other times, however, poor storage can also have an effect on laptop battery power.

For example, keeping your laptop propped up on a pillow or a bed can cause it to overheat, as it blocks the cooling vent. Similarly, keeping your laptop in a van or a storage garage is never a good idea, as these places lack the steady temperatures needed to keep your laptop in prime condition. Exposure is one of the most common damage to laptop batteries.

Thus, if you notice your laptop battery power fluctuating, it may be time to find another one. Fortunately, purchasing one isn’t as difficult as it seems. Simply write down the serial numbers on your laptop and laptop battery. If these aren’t readily visible, try shutting down the laptop, removing the battery, and looking beneath it. If you still can’t find your serial numbers, try contacting a customer service representative.

Once you’ve determined which laptop battery is best for you, it’s simply a matter of determining your preferences and your budget. Ideally, you should pick the battery that will give you the most power in the long run. The batteries themselves, however, can be quite pricey, so be sure to read a variety of customer reviews to get a better idea of what you want. Learn more today about how to extend your laptop battery power and keep it running for years to come!

Volvo locks horns with Tesla at head of high-performance electric car race

Volvo plans to take on Tesla in the high-performance electric car race after splitting out its Polestar division into a separate brand.

The move signals a further expansion of the global ambitions of the Swedish -carmaker’s Chinese owner, Geely Automotive.

Polestar said it would use its close links with Volvo to “design, develop and build world-beating electrified high-performance cars”, although it will have its own management team.

The company promised a “portfolio” of vehicles, indicating that it will launch models into different segments of the market rather than focusing only on high-priced cars. At least some of the cars will be fully electric but the company declined to say more, adding that it would issue more details in the autumn.

The brand will also continue to create high-performance models for Volvo, in a manner similar to the relationship between the AMG sub-brand and -Mercedes-Benz.

The new business will be run by -Thomas Ingenlath, Volvo’s design chief, with Jonathan Goodman, Volvo’s head of communications, becoming chief operating officer.

Mr Ingenlath said: “I am really excited to take up the challenge of establishing this exciting brand, developing a fabulous portfolio of bespoke products and channelling the passion we have throughout the Polestar team.”

Hakan Samuelsson, Volvo’s chief executive, said: “Polestar will be a credible competitor in the emerging global market for high-performance electrified cars.

Tesla is the market leader in high-performance electric cars, with rivals such as Mercedes and Audi yet to produce fully electric premium models. But Polestar’s move into the field as a separate brand marks a different strategy, in pitching a new marque directly against the Californian carmaker.

The move also marks the latest expansion for Chinese carmaker Geely. It bought Volvo from Ford in 2010 and has overseen the revival of the brand.

Auckland’s Giant Santa

Auckland's Santa deemed world's creepiest.
The 20 metre Santa, which used to feature a winking eye and beckoning finger, has been a feature of Auckland Christmases since it first appeared in downtown Auckland in 1960.
Website cracked.com today told the rest of the world what many Aucklanders already knew: The giant Santa is creepy.

It beat out a "Godzilla Santa" perched atop a Dallas store and several unsettling dolls and decorations to claim its place as the most unintentionally creepy Christmas ornament in the world.

The website called the giant Santa - which stands over the Whitcoulls store on Queen St - "tragically disfigured" and cited its moving finger as a leading cause behind its ranking.

It said the Santa's 2009 makeover, which removed moving parts and remodelled facial features, was to address its off-the-charts creepiness.

"Unsurprisingly, residents of Auckland were uncomfortable with being beckoned to by something that looks like it wants your attention so it can ask if you're comfortable with being followed home."

New MacBook Air has 7 hours life 30 days standby time

If you have an iPod, iPhone, or iPad, you're already taking advantage of all that flash storage has to offer: reliability, speed, and efficiency. So the decision to use flash storage in an ultracompact notebook like MacBook Air makes perfect sense.
The 13.3" MacBook Air Notebook Computer from Apple is an extremely portable, stunningly designed laptop computer. Apple's engineers have leveraged the lessons they learned in designing the miniaturized iPad and applied them to the design of this 2.9-pound computer.
Flash storage doesn't just give you a lighter, thinner computer. It also allows for impressive MacBook Air 13 inch battery life -- up to 7 hours of web browsing and an amazing 30 days of standby time!
If you looked inside MacBook Air, you'd see something remarkable: how much space was devoted to the battery. Apple engineers were able to fit all the computer components on one of our smallest logic boards ever. Removing the flash storage enclosure and placing the flash chips on the logic board freed up even more room. And voila: space for a bigger battery. So you can get up to 7 hours of battery life on this 13.3" MacBook Air. And when you put MacBook Air to sleep for more than an hour, it enters what's called standby mode. So you can come back to MacBook Air a day, a week -- even up to an entire month later -- and it wakes in an instant. Time is on your side, courtesy of MacBook Air.

High quality and competitive price, the most suitable for students of laptops

Today,We've scoured our peerless laptop reviews to search out 2 of the laptops that are best for you.

1.Samsung NC110
samsung laptop
Nothing too revolutionary about Samsung's netbook, but we were impressed by just how sleek and solid it is. Specifications are basic but perfectly adept, Samsung NC110 battery life weighs in at a good seven hours, and it's all wrapped up in a nice-looking chassis. For better or worse Samsung has pre-installed a lot of software on the NC110, but we actually found some of it rather handy, such as a WiFi finding tool. It's ideal for students who want something that looks the part.

2.Acer Aspire One 721

When it comes to slim, compact laptops for studying and working on, the Acer Aspire One 721 is a great choice. It combines some of the better aspects of netbooks – namely, convenience, portability and streamlined dedication – with the more comfortable dimensions of a full-sized laptop. The 11.6-inch LED screen is bright and clear, and won't strain your eyes when you're working in programs with a lot of white space, like word processors. The Aspire One 721 also weighs just 1.40kg and at only 1.1-inches thick, it's easy to carry along with books and other studying materials.
