Samsung has closed its AI shopping app for the Indian market Samsung Mall

According to TizenHelp, Samsung has quietly shut down its application for the Indian market. The AI Android app called Samsung Mall is positioned to help users identify the surrounding items and place orders on the shopping site.

It’s only been a year and a half before the launch of this app. The Samsung Mall was designed for some of its models and was launched with the Galaxy On7 Prime. Samsung introduced the app and said the app will complement the functionality of the AI assistant Bixby. The company works with Amazon, ShopClues and TataCLiQ to display the results of these retailers through its One Stop Online Experience application. Users can also compare prices to see which site has the lowest price.

Randy Nelson, head of Mobile Insights at SensorTower, an analyst firm, said that since March 2018, the Samsung Mall app has been downloaded about 5 million times in the Google Play store in India. However, the app has not been popular in recent months. Samsung has removed it from the app store.

“(This year) the total number of downloads in May was 275,000 – a 38% drop from the 476,000 in May 2018. It ranked 1055th in the Google Play Store downloads in India in May – below one 487 years ago," Nelson said.
